David Richard

Classical, Jazz & Pop

Born in Normandy, David began studying the piano aged 6 at the National Music School in Le Havre. He entered the Little Singers of Paris, aged 10 and toured around the world with them for 4 years. After a short spell back in Le Havre, he gained a Gold Medal in piano, chamber music and theory and at age 17 he was invited to study at the Rueil-Malmaison Conservatoire (CNR, Paris) under Denis Pascal. After a successful three years there, resulting in a first prize in Piano and Chamber Music, he entered the Royal College of Music to study with Niel Immelman and graduated in 2003. He has won many awards and competitions including a 4th prize in the International Piano Competition of France.

David has performed all over the UK and Europe (notably in France, Germany and Italy) in the Far East (Japan, Taiwan) and all over the United States. He made his Parisian debut with the Hector Berlioz Orchestra playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue at the Forum des Halles which was favourably received by critics. Eclectic and versatile, he is equally at ease on the concert platform, the intimate chamber music venue or the late night clubs. He always looks for reaching out to new audiences and is currently working on an educational concert series. David is also a keen teacher (he holds an International PGCE and is an examiner for Trinity College London) and holds a post at London Oratory School.
